Domestic Spying

What?! Bush oked this??? A chill is sent down my spine.

Actually, I could care less. Read my email, listen to my phone calls. I've got nothing to hide. I think that in the interest of keeping this country safe, it is ok to do this with just cause. Get over it and stop always looking for something to criticize our president for!

How about we all just live in Irac or the Ukraine where this practice is common place? Scary to think the Gov,'s going to step into the privacy/sanctity of our homes. Also, disturbing is that little by little many folks are trying to bring back censorship. Let's try to keep our Constitution/Amendments in tack!

I hear you. I certainly don't want to live in a place where this is done routinely and that you have to live in fear of the government constantly looking over your shoulder. Also, I couldn't imagine not having freedoms to say what we think and disagree with our administration; i.e. as in Big Brother is watching--1984. Praise God for our freedoms.

The White House "spying" wasn't done to everyone, though, only people strongly suspected as terrorists. I think that it is fine to monitor these potential criminals in any way deemed necessary. We can't be too careful or let things slip through the cracks like we did pre-9/11. This is a different world.

Yes, the CIA/FBI have always been able to get a warrant for covert surveillance, if there's probable cause. Just like local law enforcement agencies can search, again, with probable cause. However, this is more of a blanket, loose policy of "spying". Let's hope we don't turn into a police state. As we've seen through history and in various cultures, how the power abuse quickly occurs when the powers- that- be have omnipotent power.
